Inspired by the Chinese folk story called ‘Monkeys Grasp for the Moon’ and the proverb “To not see the wood for the trees“
This is a story of expressing ‘Content is better than riches’. At the beginning of the story, the protagonist was so sad that he escaped to the fountain to make a wish because his inner desires were not satisfied. The act of making a wish is also an act to satisfy his own desires with the help of external forces.
The water elements within the film are like mirrors, they are symbolically a reflection of ourselves, reflecting our own desires. The title express that 'what you seem to want is obscuring what you really need and what will make you happy.'
'Those who are content are happy. Examine your desires and your heart and set yourself free.'
